My Passion for Instructional Design
As a lifelong learner and instructor, I am passionate about helping people learn in engaging ways. I excel at designing instructional curricula, developing engaging content, and effective learning materials while customizing plans to deliver high-quality individualized learning that yields positive outcomes.
I believe…
…in meeting learners where they are at.
Activating prior knowledge is one of the key components of teaching, because learners instinctively “connect what they learn to what they already know, interpreting incoming information, and even sensory perception, through the lens of their existing knowledge, beliefs, and assumptions” (Ambrose et al, 2010, p. 15). When teachers and instructors activate learners’ prior knowledge sufficiently, appropriately, and accurately, it helps learners understand and internalize new knowledge.
…effective learning happens with ample practice time.
If learners are not given specific content to practice nor enough time to practice, then they are less likely to master the new skill or knowledge. As I work with you to design training, I will incorporate ways for the learners to practice each new skill they learn.
…learning should be engaging.
Learners internalize the new knowledge when the training pulls them in. When I design trainings, I weave together real world scenarios and visual design principles with my extensive knowledge of learning theories to create courses, presentations, lessons, job aides, and videos that engages the learner and ensures they utilize the new knowledge they gained.
